How NorthStar began
The name NorthStar is about being dependable. Just like the brightest star in the night sky, we want to be the one constant our customers can count on — from the first phone call to the final walkthrough.
That same steadiness is what the company was built on. NorthStar Aluminum started as one man, one truck, and a willingness to take on the small jobs nobody else wanted — rescreening a panel here, patching a corner there. No crew, no warehouse, just a commitment to showing up and doing it right every time. Word spread, and small jobs turned into full outdoor renovation projects — marble decks, aluminum enclosures, and motorized solutions among them.
The moment it became clear NorthStar was something bigger than just one man and a truck came with the company's marquee project — a Clearview cage topping 5,000 square feet, with individual Clearview sections stretching over 55 feet long. Finishing that job, the team realized what they had built together: with faith and hard work, there wasn't much they couldn't take on.
As the company grew, it stayed intentional about how. Rather than scaling into a faceless operation, NorthStar built a small, tight-knit team — Logan running operations with the discipline of managing mass-scale construction projects, Darnell keeping customers informed and showing the NorthStar difference in real time, and Jeff bringing decades of local shade and aluminum expertise to every homeowner he sits down with. Someone from ownership or management is on-site for every job — a rule the company has never bent, no matter how busy it gets.
Rooted in Sarasota and Manatee counties and serving all of Southwest Florida, NorthStar is a team of local families building for local families — built on the belief that everyone deserves outdoor spaces where they can truly be a family: safe, comfortable, and built to last through everything Florida throws at it.
Today, NorthStar Aluminum is fully licensed, insured, and an authorized direct-to-manufacturer dealer, delivering better materials at a fairer price with none of the distributor markup. But the goal ahead is bigger than any one job: to become a true staple of the community when it comes to outdoor space transformation — the name people trust first.
Tyler Ferris
Tyler founded NorthStar Aluminum from the ground up — starting as a one-man crew handling rescreening and repairs, then building it into a company known for the strongest cages and best outdoor solutions in the area. A third-generation Floridian, native to Sarasota and Manatee counties, Tyler is now raising the fourth generation here with his wife and their two daughters. He's passionate about the outdoors and about building environments where families can simply be families — which is exactly what drives NorthStar's mission.

Logan T.
Logan brings a background of strict operations management from his time with FC Inter Miami, where he handled construction projects, tight deadlines, and satisfaction on a mass scale. He brings that same discipline to every NorthStar job site, making sure projects run on time and are built right the first time. Logan lives locally with his wife and their son.
Darnell O.
Darnell is often the first friendly voice customers hear at NorthStar. He manages scheduling and customer satisfaction, and keeps social media running smoothly behind the scenes, with a genuine passion for capturing moments and telling the NorthStar story how it's meant to be told. He's a proud husband and father to a young daughter.
Jeff H.
Jeff is a longtime local Floridian and Air Force veteran with decades of experience in shade solutions and aluminum construction. He and his wife have called the area home for years. When he's not helping homeowners design the right cage or shade for their space, you'll likely find Jeff at the local golf course. His deep local roots and product knowledge make him a trusted resource for families throughout the community.
